Why you need this herb if you suffer every month

“Tracie at The Wellness Company has completely changed my life and moods.  PMS made me tired, bloated, grumpy and not fun to be around.  Tracie’s herbs totally rebalanced me inside and out.  I noticed a huge change in my mood, energy and general wellbeing and I no longer suffer every month”.    (Jules, interior designer)

Your monthly cycle is said to tell the story of your whole health.  So what is a normal cycle?

In a perfect world, your cycle lasts between 28-30 days.  Your bleed should last around 4-7 days, have a strong flow and be cranberry coloured from start to finish.  There should be no clots, no brown blood and definitely no pain.

After your bleed you should notice an increase in energy and, in the second half of your cycle, you should have a more focussed, determined energy to get things done.

We all know that it doesn’t always work out that way though don’t we?  That’s where herbal medicine can come to the rescue.  From the absence of periods to painful, heavy periods combined with PMS, feeling snappy and irritable, herbal medicine can help.

“But why does this happen to me?” is a question I hear a lot.  Unfortunately, lifestyle factors can and will disorder your hormones.  For example over-exercise, too much alcohol, excess coffee, certain medications, the birth control pill, long-term stress or a sudden shock all can unbalance your system. If that’s not bad enough, it can worsen at times of hormonal crests such as pregnancy, childbirth, teenage years and during menopause.

A magical herb for helping to balance your endocrine system is Sarsparilla especially when the root cause is coming from your liver.  I use it in my “Daily Wellness Tonics” for when you’re hot and flustered or as a general pick-me-up when you’re feeling tired and overwhelmed.

Sarsparilla is also useful for supporting your adrenals, for emotional ups and downs, for low libido and gives you a tonic effect on your whole reproductive system helping regulate your periods.   When focussing on fertility I often include Sarsparilla in the mix and it’s also great for calming teenage acne which results in much happier, emotionally stable teenagers 🙂

This beautiful herb can also be a life-saver for menopausal women by lessening hot flushes, emotional fluctuations, headaches, sleepless times and adrenal slumps.

However, please don’t self-medicate and always consult a professional Herbalist for the right plant medicines for you, your constitution and any presenting symptoms.

If you feel herbal medicine can help you, please contact me on 0425-817727 or email tracie@thewellnesscompany.com.au as I’d love to hear from you.
